World Dragons: Why Create an Oracle?

The World Dragon Oracle is about to release! In celebration of the event, I thought I would share a few short essays (as a series) that I wrote about why I created the oracle and the world dragon energies of Jormungandr, Apep and Mehen, and Merlin’s Dragons.

As Jormungandr grew within the depths of the sea, he became enormous and was able to encircle the entire world with his body. Once he had all of Midgard surrounded, he took his tail into his mouth, and thus he became infinity.

Why create a World Dragon Oracle? Do dragons really have anything to convey to us? If they did, would we understand the message? The answers to those questions inspired me to create the oracle as a medium, a translator of sorts, for the seeker to communicate with dragons.

What is a “World Dragon” and why seek this specific type of dragon energy and wisdom? World dragons are the dragon spirits who hold the tension between all worlds and all things. Held in a state of suspension, this tension is synonymous with the concept of balance. This is the image of the ouroboros, the serpent eating its own tail.

The ouroboros originates in chaos and from that chaos, comes destruction and then rebirth. This is the cycle of energy at all levels of perception: physical, spiritual, and mental. With everything always in motion, on all levels, life can seem overwhelming.

The oracle is designed to aid the seeker in achieving balance and discovering what is aiding or hindering them in this endeavor. By communicating with the dragons using the oracle, the seeker will instinctively begin to feel the tangible energy between themselves and the physical and spiritual worlds. As facilitators for balance at both the microcosmic and macrocosmic levels, the world dragons are potent energy sources with which to connect to help achieve this balance. There are several faces of the ouroboros in dragon lore. In this series of writings on The World Dragon Oracle, I will discuss the energies of Jormungandr, Apep and Mehen, and Merlin’s Dragons.

Next Days of the Dragon: Jormungandr, Norse World Dragon. Until then, may the Dragons bless you with wisdom and love!
