The divination method “The Dragon’s Tracks” is a technique to use with The World Dragon Oracle. I will be presenting the Dragon’s Tracks in three posts. The first includes the introduction and methodology. This is the second post and presents each Threshold of the Dragon’s Tracks in more detail. The third post will be an example reading using this divination method.
Thresholds of the Dragon Tracks
Each of these thresholds carries a message which is part of your oracle. The passageways of the dragon tracks, and the qualities they represent, are listed here.
DRAGON MAW BEGINNINGS
The seeker begins the oracle journey via the mouth of the dragon. Like Jason of Jason and the Argonauts, the seeker enters the dragon, essentially being “devoured”, searches for knowledge, and then exits the dragon very much alive and enlightened. Approach the Dragon’s Maw with courage and an open heart. Be truthful and meek. Where the seeker is now.
Every journey has a beginning
and that is indeed where you should start!
Enter the mouth of the dragon
And seek ye the dragon’s heart!
DRAGON KIN FELLOWSHIP
As the seeker continues walking the dragon tracks, they may be joined by a companion, family member, or clan. This could be an individual or a group. The dragon kin may remain for the entire journey, or they may only travel with the seeker for a certain period of the quest. Who is with or supports the seeker.
The path includes a kinship
You were never really alone.
Shoulder to shoulder you will travel
Seek ye the dragon’s bones!
DRAGON SHIP MOVEMENT
Walking in the tracks of the dragon’s coils requires movement, and movement sometimes necessitates the use of a tool or object to complete the action. This third gateway for the seeker is marked with what or who can assist with the action. What will propel the seeker forward upon the path
Across the plains of mystery,
Or the oceans of more,
Dragon ship or dragon wings,
Seek ye the dragon shore!
DRAGON LAIR REWARD
After passing through the gateway of the dragon ship, the seeker will find themselves within the lair of a dragon. Here is where the seeker can discover what they truly desire, or they may see a vision of what is waiting for them at the end of the dragon tracks.
In the heart of the dragon
Here the gold does lie,
Look closely here for truths
Seek ye the dragon’s eye!
DRAGON EYE INNER VISION
The dragon’s eye is a powerful threshold of the dragon tracks. At this gateway, the seeker can receive a vision of what is absolutely true and real as it pertains to their query and/or journey. Without question, the oracle that is revealed at this gate is coming from a place where deception is not possible.
Through the dragon’s eyes
Pure and clear as light
Look, see, and know!
Seek ye the dragon’s third eye
DRAGON HJEM PROTECTION
The gift of a true vision does not come without the possibility of some discomfort or risk to the seeker. For that reason, the next threshold is a gift from the dragons. At this passage, the seeker is given something magical. This could be a physical object, a message, a talisman, amulet, or even critical knowledge.
Upon thy brow rests a helm
Let no one harm thee
Let no one mistake thee
Dragonhjem upon thy brow
DRAGON WOUND VULNERABILITY & SACRIFICE
As much as the seeker may gain from walking the dragon tracks, there may also be loss upon this path. At this threshold, the seeker is shown where they or their query is weak or flawed. The seeker may well have to part with something that is meaningful to them in order to pass through. Old wounds may need to heal. Weaknesses may need to be strengthened.
The missing scale is raw
A torn claw long healed,
Given and taken with grief
Shadows of what we feel
DRAGON SHADOW NEMESIS
The seeker has a constant companion on this journey; indeed, all journeys: their shadow self. Here, the seeker will find the passage is blocked by what is hindering the seeker from within themselves. This is what the seeker must overcome in order to not only continue their journey but also to evolve their higher selves.
The shadow waits in silence
Before and behind,
Whispers of nothing,
Without you, ‘tis blind
THE WESTERN GATE RESOLUTION
The end of the journey is in sight. The resolution presents itself to the seeker at the western gate of the dragon track. Now, the seeker need only step through and embrace the oracle’s message.
Lo, there lies the Western Gate,
Answers for those who seek.
Far you have travelled,
Feel the dragon’s heartbeat
DRAGON’S ENDIR JOURNEY’S END
The seeker has passed through the thresholds of the dragon tracks. He or she now leaves the path with a final message from the dragon realm.
Words of wisdom,
A song of strength,
A dance of delight,
A book of belief
